Comparison Guide
Two inches may not sound significant. On a body wave wig, they make a visible difference. Here is exactly how to choose the right length for your height, lifestyle, and the look you want.
Wig length is measured from the root of the hair (where it meets the cap) to the tip of the longest strand — in a straight line, when the hair is fully stretched. This is important to understand, because body wave hair sits shorter than its measured length when worn naturally.
The wave pattern creates gentle S-curves along each strand. Those curves absorb length — typically reducing the visual length by 1.5–2 inches compared to the measurement. A 22 inch body wave therefore appears similar to a 20 inch straight wig when worn naturally, and a 24 inch reads similarly to a 22 inch straight.
This is not a flaw — it is how the texture behaves, and it is useful to factor in when choosing your length.
These positions are based on an average height of 5'4″–5'6″. If you are shorter, each length reads proportionally longer; if you are taller, proportionally shorter. Use this as a guide, not a guarantee.
22 inch is the most popular AA WIGS length — and it is the default selection on our product page for good reason. It is long enough to show full body wave movement, volume, and drape, while remaining practical for daily life.
At bra strap length, 22 inch body wave frames the face and shoulders beautifully without the weight or maintenance commitment of longer lengths. It photographs well from every angle, works equally for day and evening, and sits in a position that is universally flattering across height ranges.
Choose 22 inch if: You want the classic body wave look, you wear your wig daily, you prefer manageable styling, or you are buying your first body wave wig.
24 inch body wave is for the woman who wants presence. At mid-back length, the additional two inches create significantly more wave volume — more cascading movement, more impact when you walk into a room, more visible texture in photographs and video.
It is also the length that benefits most from body wave's natural movement. At 22 inches, the waves are visible and full. At 24 inches, they have room to truly cascade — the kind of movement that turns heads.
The trade-offs are real: 24 inch requires more product when conditioning, more careful detangling, and slightly longer drying time. On very warm days or during active wear, the extra length can feel warmer at the nape of the neck.
Choose 24 inch if: You want maximum impact, you are comfortable with longer hair maintenance, you have a taller frame, or you are wearing the wig for special occasions and events.
On body wave, two inches makes a noticeable difference due to the wave pattern adding visual volume. 22 inch sits at bra strap length; 24 inch reaches mid-back. The 24 has more cascading movement and more presence when worn down.
22 inch. It is long enough for full body wave movement and versatile styling, but practical for commuting, active days, and daily maintenance. Most AA WIGS customers choose 22 inch as their first length and their go-to.
Yes. A 24 inch wig has more surface area, which means more conditioner needed, more careful detangling (working from ends to roots), and longer drying times. Build this into your routine before committing to the longer length.
Many AA WIGS customers own both — 22 inch for everyday, 24 inch for events and occasions where they want maximum impact. The colour and texture are identical across all lengths, making the two easy to alternate.
